Technical Tour of Australian Students Take In Garlico Marlborough

Robert had a great time on Friday 23 June talking garlic, shallots and horticulture to a group of 12 agribusiness / science students from UNE (University of New England, Armidale, Australia) taking part in a Farm to Farm tour.  The students had attended the E Tipu / IFAMA Conference in Christchurch and, on the back of their intensive South Island Agriculture tour, were keen to see businesses unique to the Marlborough region as they travelled north.   Robert outlined the cropping opportunities available in the region, told tales of the history of Garlico, gave a run-down on climate, growing conditions, and challenges with allium crops, then finished off with a walk around the factory to explain Garlico marketing and sales components. His captive audience were an engaged group and asked some intuitive questions and assured him that his words of wisdom were inspiring the next generation of primary sector leaders.
